The Dorridge Tree Wardens were set up in the summer of 2007 in response to a request from the DDRA in their newsletter.
This group of people has met and established a way forward. This group will work closely with the Solihull Tree Wardens Group, which also has representatives in Knowle and Shirley and will concentrate on gathering information on trees in the area and provide warnings of threats, disease, decay and vandalism.
Also it will be reviewing planning applications, especially on TPO'd trees and work closely with the Council where local housing developments are likely to have a particularly impact on trees Working in the community and with schools to raise awareness of the importance of trees to the environment.
The group is liaising closely with members of the Residents Association who monitor planning applications. Attention is currently being focussed on developments within the Dorridge Triangle and Bentley Heath areas where developers are planning infill housing that could impact on a number of valuable trees. Other activities are the production of a register of valuable and protected trees in Dorridge and the future of the copse of trees at the junction of Avenue Road and Dorridge Road.
Anyone who has any concerns about threats to trees in the area, would like further information or wants to take an active role in the group should contact either:
Bryan Chapman on 770995, Helen Fairlie 230068 or Dave Tomkins on 732258.
