Road safety is an important issue, with heavy traffic passing around and through Dorridge and Bentley Heath. We have a neutral stance on cars. We strongly encourage improving transport links and seek to represent residents who find problems with bus and train services. With the development in the area, we are concerned that there are not new dangers introduced. For example, we have successfully lobbied for an additional crossing near the railway and have assisted residents in Darley Green in making representations over the accident-prone road there which should be implemented in 2006.
One of our concerns is that there is very poor pedestrian provision for safely crossing Station Road and Widney Road. These matters have been raised with the Council and we continue to seek improvements. The problems around the Mill Lane/Widney Road junction are likely to be exacerbated by the development of the accepted and proposed developments of flats nearby.

Dorridge is surrounded by wonderful countryside with many pleasant walks redily accessible. Solihull Council do a great job of waymarking and maintaining the footpaths. Of course, with so many paths in the area, they cannot know of all the problems. If you do find a blocked footpath or have other problems, contact Solihull Council on 0121 704 6429 or email environment@solihull.gov.uk
