The hall was built in 1975 from donations and grants from Solihull MBC (who retain the freehold for the site).
The Dorridge Village Hall Asscociation (DVHA) became a registered charity in February 1977. It has its own constitution and is run by a committee of voluntary officers and user representatives in associaition. Its aim is to provide a facility for the benefit of the people of Dorridge and its environs. Recently, disabled facilities were installed.
Since 2007, DVHA has been run by a new committee which has already made some important improvements and is trying to further imporve the Hall's operation and develop its facilities.
Current regular users include several badminton groups, two dance groups and a fitness group and a choir; the local Women's Insititute; karate and pilates; Christadelphians; two branches of the University of the Third Age (U3A) as well as a U3A sing-a-long group.
The Hall is also used by the Union Theatre for plays and pantomimes and the committee would encourage other dramatic groups to make use of the well designed large theatre space - as well as the bar and parking facilities.
The Hall is also available on Friday evenings and all day Saturday for private users. Hire can include catering and is a good venue for birthdays, anniversaries, barn dances or fund-raisers throughout the year. There are grounds that can also accommodate marquees.
The Dorridge Village Hall Association would welcome any voluntary support that they can get from anyone in the are who can help with fundraising or donations to improve the Hall - and also from computer-literate people to help with booking arrangements.
