A climate unit isn't complete nowadays without touching on the concept of climate change, man-made or natural causes. In Dot Earth, which moved from the news side of The Times to the Opinion section in 2010, Andrew C. Concentrations of atmospheric carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases responsible for scalding temperatures on Venus and at least 33 degrees C of normal warming here on Earth, are on the rise.

A 2012 paper in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences used computer modeling to show that abrupt climate events in the past occurred as a result of a change in ocean currents due to the Bering Strait closing off because of low sea levels. Wegener published this theory in his 1915 book, On the Origin of Continents and Oceans. So, the leeward side of the mountain doesn't get any rain. Usually, El Niño brings more rain and higher temperatures.

Therefore, the mix of species of life will undergo drastic changes in the next century or so. On September 3, a high-tech team from the Arctic Research Foundation, using side-scan sonar and an underwater robot to probe a remote Canadian bay, found and began exploring an extraordinary prize — the sunken H. In those cases carbon dioxide/ greenhouse effect and albedo changes have acted as feedback agents to enhance the effect of the axis tilt/orbit changes.

A major chunk of the current time span on our planet, i.e., the Cenozoic Era, began after the catastrophic Cretaceous-Paleogene Mass Extinction, eradicating most of the ruling dinosaur and other reptile species. Human activities have greatly increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which impacts global climate by warming the Earth. Several layers of rubble piles are found in dozens of places on the Earth dated between about 800 million to 600 million years ago and these places would have been near the equator at those times.
