DDRA are proposing to hold a 2-hour session locally to train residents in First Aid and how to use a defibrillator. The session will cover what to do if someone has a heart attack how to deal with a unconscious person, how to give emergency life support with CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and how to use a defibrillator.
These sessions are very useful – none of us know when we may see someone collapse and it is good to have training in what to do so that we can help rather than just watch helplessly.
DDRA and other organisations have supplied defibrillators locally – there are now seven in various locations throughout Dorridge, Bentley Heath and Knowle.
Our local Fast Responders, led by Terry Flowers, are keen that as many people as possible are trained in their use. We have already held a number of such sessions. They are free and the atmosphere is relaxed and sociable.
The next session will probably be after the Summer Holidays.
If you would like to come to our next session, please e-mail Jane Holt at firstname.lastname@example.org. Jane is a local GP.
